Ever since I watched that film Hackers I've dreamed of being able to tap into the mainframes of secret organisations and take down big banks (if you work at the CIA, I'm only joking by the way). Now I can get some practice in on my Pocket PC thanks to this conversion of the classic PC game. Hacker Evolution sees you take on the role of a hacker thirsty for fame and money.
Your goal is to inifiltrate as many servers as possible, and pump up your bank account in the process. To do this you must hook up to different machines using a combination of commands and by solving puzzles before being detected.
Although not much to look at graphically, the gaming environment is unique and authentic in that it displays a series of computer messages that simluate those you'd find on real servers. The suspense of the gameplay is heightened by an atmospheric soundtrack that gets more intense as things get more dangerous.
Hacker Evolution serves up some unqiue and intelligent gameplay, and while there's not much in the way of action, it offers nerds across the world the chance to act out their fantasies on a Pocket PC.
